The GPS satellites are hiding behind the clouds, and\u00a0 because of that <a title=\"Sports Tracker\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sports-tracker.com\/#\/view_profile\/marcelpreda\" target=\"_blank\">Sports Tracker<\/a> (on Android) shows me strange routes, see next picture.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.notnull.ro\/log\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/no_agps.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-225\" alt=\"no_agps\" src=\"http:\/\/www.notnull.ro\/log\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/no_agps.png\" width=\"427\" height=\"478\" srcset=\"https:\/\/notnull.ro\/log\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/no_agps.png 459w, https:\/\/notnull.ro\/log\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/no_agps-268x300.png 268w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 427px) 100vw, 427px\" \/><\/a> Today in Bucharest was a very cloudy day, and no chance to see any satellite . I&#8217;ve decide to enable the aGPS (assisted GPS) on my phone to see if I get better results. In less than 20\u00a0seconds it found my locations, and the differences are more than obvious , much closer to the reality.\u00a0 Broadband data transferred for this run (~20 minutes) was about 0.5 MB\u00a0 (looks like Sports Tracker is downloading also some data from google maps).<\/p>\n<p>For better results you need to have Wi-Fi ON, even if you are not connected to them. aGPS is using the SSID of the routers to &#8220;guess&#8221; the best coordinates.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On 2<sup>nd<\/sup> picture\u00a0is the route tracked with aGPS ON:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>packet data activated<\/li>\n<li>WI-FI on, even if I&#8217;m not connected to any of the\u00a0WIFI routers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.notnull.ro\/log\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/with_agps.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-226\" alt=\"with_agps\" src=\"http:\/\/www.notnull.ro\/log\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/with_agps.png\" width=\"427\" height=\"863\" srcset=\"https:\/\/notnull.ro\/log\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/with_agps.png 427w, https:\/\/notnull.ro\/log\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/with_agps-148x300.png 148w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 427px) 100vw, 427px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s autumn in Romania, rainy days have come.
